We are a custom moulder in rigid plastics. We started supplying rigid plastic

articles to the South African market in 1972. From humble beginnings, the company has grown into

one of the leading players in our industry. This company has been listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange since 1987. Our customers include a wide range of South African national companies.

We are currently in the process of recruiting for a Production Manager.  This role is to oversee the production process, coordinating all production activities and operations.  To ensure that the manufacturing process run’s efficiently, meet quality standards and customer deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

Production Coordination

  • Implement production schedules to meet customer demands
  • Coordinate production activities with other departments
  • Allocate resources including personnel, equipment and material to maximise efficiency and productivity
  • Monitor production processes and workflow, adjusting schedules and resources as necessary to address bottlenecks and delays
  • Analyse production processes to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction while optimizing efficiency and productivity
  • Conduct root cause analysis of production issues and implement corrective action
  • Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste
  • Ensure compliance with undustry standards, regulations and safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation

Personnel Management

  • Manage subordinates in line with company policies, procedures and industry collective agreement.
  • Responsible to lead, motivate, train and control any allocated persons
  • Ensure that subordinates record and report quality problems immediately
  • Monitor and direct workflow of subordinates
  • Hold regular performance reviews to discuss performance against objectives, counselling employees where performance is not in line with the standards
  • Motivate team to develop with a focus on ongoing improvement. Implement good ideas, give credit where due, support, counsel and discipline where necessary
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of workplace safety.
  • Practical hands-on passing on of skill (“Show and do”)
  • Guide team to ensure that members deliver output and performance in line with company quality standards
  • Communicate and confirm values and goals and clarify roles on an ongoing basis
  • Proactively communicate consequences of misconduct to team members
  • Conduct discipline and counselling where necessary, staying within the limits of orderly actions in terms of the disciplinary code

Health and Safety

  • Ensure organisational health and safety standards and safe working practices are maintained
  • Work safely and report on safety hazards or issues
  • Report any accidents, incidents and near misses

Food (Product) Safety:

  • Food safety standards are site specific and at these sites employees should:
    • Apply the site’s food safety principles and standards
    • Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager
    • Comply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Company’s FSMS (Food Safety Management System)

Quality

  • Apply the company’s quality principles and standards
  • Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Reporting and Administration

  • All reports and administration related to the position

General

  • Ensure team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not available
  • Inform yourself about and apply the company’s principles and standards
  • Set an example, be a role model for your team and others in the way you work and behave
  • Responsible for all activities linked to position as defined
  • Ensures that the structure for escalation of responsibility is effective

Communication

  • Report on appropriate forum issues requiring action / action from other departments / instances of major downtime
  • Ensure transparent, responsive, and open communication between colleagues
