The Commercial Sales Manager will oversee a team of sales professionals and account managers, spearheading sales strategies, and delivering compelling presentations to clients and prospective clients.
This senior management role demands a strategic thinker with a proven track record in sales leadership within the potted plants or horticulture industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales representatives and account managers to achieve sales targets and exceed client expectations.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Monitor sales team’s progress towards set goals and targets and provide regular feedback to the sales team and directors.
- Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and provide coaching to enhance team performance and development.
- Client and Prospect Engagement:
- Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations to clients and prospective clients, showcasing our product offerings and value propositions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand our client base and market share.

- Strategic Sales Planning:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales plans to achieve both short-term and long-term business objectives.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform strategic decisions and sales initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior management to align sales strategies with overall company goals and objectives.
- Sales Performance Analysis:
- Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.
- Use data-driven insights to adjust sales strategies, improve team performance, and address any challenges.
- Implement and oversee effective sales processes and tools to optimize productivity and efficiency.
- Client Solutions and Customization:
- Work closely with clients to understand their specific needs and provide customized solutions for their horticultural requirements.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with clients to secure profitable deals while ensuring client satisfaction.
- Address and resolve any client issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.

- Coordinate with other departments, such as marketing and product development, to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.

Qualifications , experience and personal competencies:
- Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally as the need arises
- Reliable transport and driver’s license non-negotiable
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Horticulture, or a related field (preferred);
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commercial sales management, preferably within the potted plants or horticulture industry.
- Demonstrated success in managing and leading sales teams to achieve high performance and revenue growth.
- Strong ability to prepare and deliver high-impact sales presentations to diverse audiences.
- Proven track record in building and maintaining client relationships and closing high-value deals.
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software, sales analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
