ROLE OVERVIEW

Edward Snell & Co. are seeking a highly motivated, customer-focused Team Leader to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Gauteng.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team Supervision & Leadership: Lead and motivate the packaging team, assigning tasks and ensuring adherence to safety, procedures, and quality standards. Provide training, monitor performance, offer feedback, and conduct performance reviews to maintain efficiency and high morale.
  • Packaging Operations Management: Oversee daily packaging operations, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met. Manage equipment operation, troubleshoot issues, ensure proper material handling, and optimize processes to reduce downtime, waste, and improve efficiency and throughput.
  • Quality Control: Ensure packaged products meet quality standards, including labeling, packaging integrity, and safety. Conduct quality checks, resolve non-conformities with the QC team, and ensure compliance with hygiene, industry, and regulatory standards in packaging processes.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Enforce health and safety protocols, conduct regular audits, and ensure team training on safe work practices and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with environmental guidelines, including waste disposal and energy conservation practices.
  • Inventory Management and Reporting: Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment of packaging materials. Maintain production, downtime, and maintenance records, providing regular reports to the Production Manager. Address and report any discrepancies in stock, production, or packaging quality promptly.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and increased productivity. Lead initiatives to implement best practices and new technologies in packaging. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance overall plant performance and achieve business goals.
  • Managing Manpower and Labor Cost: Monitor manpower allocation to optimize staffing levels and control labor costs. Analyze productivity, implement cost-saving strategies, and ensure adherence to labor budgets. Optimize shift scheduling to reduce overtime and maintain efficiency without compromising quality or targets.

 

QUALIFICATION & MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

  • National Diploma/Advanced Diploma/B-tech: Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a bottling plant. At least 3 years must be post qualification with relevant production experience
  • 3 years as a Packaging Team Leader

  • Planning and Coordination skills
  • Must have knowledge of Quality management systems such as ISO 9001
  • Must have knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such TPM, Six Sigma and WCM
  • Performance management skills
  • Must be willing to work shifts, overtime and do standby duty from time-to-time
  • Must be willing to train other employees
  • Valid code 08 driver’s license and own reliable transport
