Job Summary:
The Loading Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the safe and efficient loading of fabricated steel components for transportation to mining sites. This role ensures that all materials are loaded in compliance with company procedures, weight distribution guidelines, and transportation regulations to minimize damage and optimize delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Loading & Logistics Coordination:
- Plan and coordinate daily loading schedules based on project timelines and delivery priorities.
- Ensure steel structures, beams, and other fabricated components are loaded safely and securely onto trucks.
- Work closely with logistics teams, truck drivers, and site supervisors to optimize transport efficiency.
- Verify load weights and distribution to prevent overloading or imbalance issues.
- Maintain accurate records of loaded materials, including dimensions, weights, and delivery destinations.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all loading operations comply with workplace health and safety regulations, including heavy lifting and securing of loads.
- Conduct pre-loading inspections to ensure materials meet transportation and customer specifications.
- Implement proper securing techniques, including strapping, blocking, and bracing, to prevent load shifting.
- Identify and report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or loading process issues.
Communication & Coordination:
- Collaborate with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to align loading schedules with dispatch requirements.
- Communicate with truck drivers to confirm load specifications and special handling requirements.
- Provide guidance to forklift operators and crane operators for proper material handling.
- Address and resolve any loading-related delays or issues.
Inventory & Documentation:
- Maintain up-to-date records of loaded materials, including batch numbers and destination details.
- Verify packing lists, load sheets, and delivery documents before dispatch.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking loaded and remaining materials.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role within steel fabrication, mining, or heavy industry.
- Knowledge of loading procedures, weight distribution, and load securing techniques.
- Familiarity with heavy lifting equipment, such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and rigging gear.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety compliance.
- Ability to read technical drawings and load plans is an advantage.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Advanced excel skills
Preferred Certifications:
- Forklift Operator License (preferred)
- Rigging and Lifting Certification (advantageous)
- Load Securement and Transportation Safety Training
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an industrial setting with exposure to heavy machinery and steel structures.
- Physically fit to handle lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Must have own Transport
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime when required.
