ROLE OVERVIEW
The Market Insights Manager will play a key role in ensuring we remain adaptive and agile driving data-driven strategies within the South African liquor market. By providing deep market insights, analysing, and evaluating competitive landscapes, this role supports the company’s growth strategy through informed decision-making. The position requires a strong focus on analytics, collaboration, and the ability to craft compelling stories from data to guide business strategies.

EXPERIENCE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience in a strategic market insights role for of 5-7 years’ in FMCG
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic
- Leverage Nielsen and other multiple data sources to monitor key market trends, identify growth opportunities, and assess competitive dynamics in the South African spirits market that shape our portfolio, innovation and channel strategies.
- Work with the brand and commercial team to identify and implement brand-building blocks and growth drivers that align with the company’s ambitions, ensuring strong market presence and profitability.
Commercial
- Support the development of quarterly business reviews with principals, ensuring the inclusion of key market insights, performance metrics, and robust measurement and evaluation of brand activities.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to provide actionable insights that drive product positioning, pricing strategies, and promotional plans.
Operational
- Manage the collection, analysis, and presentation of market data, ensuring the insights provided are actionable and accurate for internal stakeholders.
- Conduct regular competitor analysis to understand market positioning and inform tactical responses.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., supply chain, sales, marketing) to ensure data-driven decision-making processes are integrated into operations
- Conduct demand forecasting based on market and company insights, aligning predictions with business objectives and operational planning
Innovation
- Support innovation teams by providing insights into emerging trends, consumer needs, and market gaps that can drive the development of new products or services.
- Track the success of new product launches and optimize based on performance data.
- Proactively look for innovative ways for us to leverage predictive analytics and automation into tools and processes to drive improved efficiencies and accuracy.
People
- Play an active role in building the marketing team’s capabilities, sharing insights on industry best practices, tools, and methodologies for effective market analysis.
- Demonstrate strong influencing capability and stakeholder engagement, presenting data-driven insights to senior partners and principals in a clear and compelling manner to influence decision-making.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Expertise in data analysis, with the ability to transform raw data into actionable insights and compelling stories.
- Strong collaboration skills, working cross-functionally with teams like sales, marketing, planning, and finance
- Excellent communication and storytelling abilities to present data insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences that influences senior stakeholders
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong expertise in measurement and evaluation processes to assess business performance and integrate insights into quarterly business reviews.
- Experience in building capability within a team, particularly within the marketing function, through training and mentoring
