Hiring Advice from Three Wise Women

It is that time of year when we are running around ensuring we have the right gifts for the right people. So, we thought at Job Crystal we would gift you with 21 different methods to finding candidates. We want to ensure you try everything when looking for that one.

21 number of ways to hire and find candidates:

1. Download software called Everything – and search for contacts/skills/anything on your PC (works super well)
2. Post a job advert in a newspaper (go old school as this time of year more people are digitally detoxing so may be time to try old school)
3. Create a social media post and post it on your social media like Facebook or Twitter
4. Pay for a job advert on a job portal like www.pnet.co.za or www.career24.com
5. Create a broadcast list on your phone and send a message asking if anyone knows of someone
6. Contact a great recruitment agency to help you find the right person – and it comes with a guarantee (bonus!)
7. Do a Boolean search (try something like this in your Google = site: linkedin.com/in (“Cape Town”) AND (“Sales” AND “FMCG”)
8. Put up a printed paper at the shops advertising your job with your email address as a tag to tear off
9. Search on a paid Job Portal like www.careerjunction.co.za for a candidate
10. Post a job advert on a free job board like www.gumtree.co.za or www.indeed.com
11. Create a paid LinkedIn job and see the applications roll in
12. Use an AI tool like www.jobcrystal.co.za where the machine finds you the candidate
13. Search LinkedIn for people with the job title you are searching for
14. Think back in your work career and work out who you worked with who had the right attitude (think grit, hardworking values) and contact them to see what they are up to
15. Post on a social media group like a university if you are looking for graduates
16. Hand out pamphlets of your job outside a business center
17. Ask your own staff for referrals (and offer to pay them for successful placements)
18. Advertise on your own website (create a careers page)
19. Look at past employees that worked in your business and see if anyone you would like to re-hire
20. Do a mass mailer and send to a group of people you know (bcc them) and ask if they know of anyone
21. Use a headhunter to find you that one ideal superhuman!
