Job Purpose

To oversee and manage the quality control processes and nursery operations for the company, ensuring the highest standards in environmental rejuvenation projects. The role includes planning, supervising, and optimizing nursery outputs, with a strong emphasis on Spekboom propagation and planting projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Nursery Management:
    • Plan and oversee the propagation, planting, and maintenance of Spekboom and other indigenous species.
    • Manage the nursery team, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to production targets.
    • Maintain optimal growing conditions, including irrigation, pest control, and soil management.
  2. Quality Control:
    • Develop and implement quality control measures for all planting and nursery activities.
    • Monitor plant health and productivity, addressing issues proactively.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental and agricultural best practices.
  3. Project Management:
    • Coordinate with farm management to align nursery operations with overall farm objectives.
    • Plan seasonal planting schedules and resource allocation.
    • Manage budgets and procurement for nursery supplies and equipment.
  4. Team Leadership:
    • Train and mentor nursery staff on propagation techniques and quality standards.
    • Foster a culture of environmental stewardship and teamwork.
  5. Reporting and Analysis:
    • Maintain detailed records of nursery activities and production outcomes.
    • Provide regular reports to management on progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A diploma or degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in nursery management or quality control in a similar role.
  • Experience with Spekboom propagation and planting is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of indigenous flora and sustainable farming practices.
