Job Details

A dynamic and growing firm of accountants and auditors in Illovo Johannesburg are looking for a competent and responsible accounting and tax department assistant. The successful candidate should have some theoretical and practical knowledge of accounting, management reporting, and the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role and knowledge of SARS E-filing would be beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • B. Com (Accounting) / B. Compt. would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in CaseWare would be an advantage.
  • If Articles have been served will be considered advantageous.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of accounting, management reporting, and the   Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act
  • Have a good working tax knowledge.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of financial statements for mainly small CC’s and Companies on CaseWare;
  • Working on cloud accounting packages mostly Xero as well;
  • Managing the workflow for monthly accounting clients;
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts (for a few clients each month).
  • Good proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook;
  • Excellent problem solving and out of the box thinking;
  • Good practical knowledge and a willingness to get hands-on;
  • Ability to recognize when a particular path of actions will no longer reach the desired

 outcome and change the approach;

  • Self-starter who can be left to complete the task but will ask for clarity and more information when required;
  • Good time management and administrative skills. Must be highly organized.
  • Good communication skills;
  • An entrepreneurial hunger for growth;
  • A willingness to go the extra mile.
