ROLE PURPOSE
The Commercial Finance Analyst is responsible for developing, overseeing, and ensuring the quality of commercial financial models that guide decision-making across the organization. This role serves as a key advisory resource to management and internal departments, providing data-driven insights to support feasibility analysis, financial assessments of projects, and pricing strategies. The Commercial Finance Analyst plays a pivotal role in aligning financial analysis with the company’s strategic objectives, enabling informed decision-making that drives business growth and operational efficiency.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
People Management
- Manage stakeholders across the business and adopt accountability for implementing and adhering toagreed processes and service delivery requirements
- Evaluate commercial performance objectives and meeting KPO deliverables for the business
- Ensure the commercial team output is according to agreed processes and SLA, and other benchmark requirements
- Manage process deviations
- Implement and practice daily a digital data-led professional mindset
Supplier and Customer Engagement
- Develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers and maintain these through regular communication, meetings, events etc.
- Prepare agendas and minute meetings. Identify the action points to conclusion
- Actively evaluate supplier costs and look for ways to improve cost efficiencies
Commercial Pricing and Modelling Requests
- Review and cross-examine requests for pricing
- Assess for high level acceptability and feasibility (assess as ‘proceed/deny’)
- Commercial preparation and assessment of outcome with standardized commercial models
- Creation of new commercial model (see commercial modelling)
- Quality assessment of commercial model to ensure free from error and mistakes
- Commercial parameter summation
- Presentation to internal stakeholders
- Generate commercial/pricing terms relevant to each costing mode
Planning, Cross-Examination, and Counter-Requests
- Interrogate requests to fully understand the requirement, if in agreement and if necessary – suggest an approach to establish alignment between Commercial and internal stakeholders
- Offer support where information or understanding is lacking
Management and Improvement of Commercial Data Inputs
- Identify and support understanding of data input processes specific to the commercial financial function for completeness and accuracy, as an output to People and Business Support Services Review, refine and build on relevant standard inputs to achieve and maintain most accurate outputs
Pricing Template Management
- Evaluate regularly and perform maintenance and enhancement on all pricing templates in line with financial business targets, pricing principals and economic factors (CM accountable)
- Instruct creation of new/additional templates
- Where appropriate, create pricing calculators for use by internal users
Commercial Modelling
- Preparation of complex cost modelling requirements, including RFP responses, DLM and MLM models for FSP’s with internal task team
- Create bespoke, flexible models for the opportunity, evolve the model in line with opportunity journey and risk analysis Commercial parameter summation
- Prepare presentation for internal stakeholders
- Identify and maintain related commercial pricing terms and conditions relevant to each costing model
Review and Management of Output and Communication to Internal Customers
- Prepare commercial model that it enables and sound understanding and appreciation commercial input that directly impact on the outcome, for internal customers
- Prepare and support with information gathered related for review in communication processes to address for rebuttals and support the process end-to-end
Business Advisory & Propositions Consultation
- Provide sound and informed commercial advice and guidance to internal customers relating to specific requests and in the spirit of general business improvement
- Identify and support discussions with product/service offering and associated growth metrics for revenue growth
- Guide and inform the modelling for reporting and projection purposes
Navision Package Creation
- Create generic packages to instruct GL revenue recognition on the business’s ERP system
Business Acumen
- Keep abreast of company strategy as it evolves and ensure all commercial efforts are aligned to such
- Provide commercial financial advisory support to business in alignment with industry practices and developments.
Reporting and Tracking
- Creating and maintaining a commercial tracking report
- Prepare reports as required – daily, weekly, monthly. Reports may include, tracking of commercials, profitability analysis of actual to planned, post-mortem of loss opportunity, lead time to convert opportunities, etc.
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts to inform senior management on the financial health and prospects of various projects and initiatives.
- Prepare a report of identified trends or discrepancies and recommend remedial actions
Additional Information:
- Review, check and sign-off quote, PO, and monthly billing submissions
- First point of escalation for all Logistics queries
- Part of the Operations Management Team so will play a strategic role in developing and growing Operations service delivery within and outside XLink
- Prepare monthly Management Reporting Pack and Board Pack submissions
- Manage Health & Safety in the environment

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management (preferably Honours level)
- CA(SA) or CIMA would be beneficial
Experience
- 2-4 Years experience as a financial analyst and/or commercial modelling
- 4-6 Years skilled experience
- Experience in the telecommunications and/or payment terminal industry. (added advantage)
- Knowledge of ERP systems, that include Microsoft NAV Vision, SAP etc
