The Commercial Sales Manager will oversee a team of sales professionals and account managers, spearheading sales strategies, and delivering compelling presentations to clients and prospective clients.

This senior management role demands a strategic thinker with a proven track record in sales leadership within the potted plants or horticulture industry.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales representatives and account managers to achieve sales targets and exceed client expectations.
    • Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
    • Monitor sales team’s progress towards set goals and targets and provide regular feedback to the sales team and directors.
    • Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and provide coaching to enhance team performance and development.
  2. Client and Prospect Engagement:
    • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations to clients and prospective clients, showcasing our product offerings and value propositions.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand our client base and market share.

  3. Strategic Sales Planning:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive sales plans to achieve both short-term and long-term business objectives.
    • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform strategic decisions and sales initiatives.
    • Collaborate with senior management to align sales strategies with overall company goals and objectives.
  4. Sales Performance Analysis:
    • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.
    • Use data-driven insights to adjust sales strategies, improve team performance, and address any challenges.
    • Implement and oversee effective sales processes and tools to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  5. Client Solutions and Customization:
    • Work closely with clients to understand their specific needs and provide customized solutions for their horticultural requirements.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with clients to secure profitable deals while ensuring client satisfaction.

Qualifications , experience and personal competencies:

  • Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally as the need arises
  • Reliable transport and driver’s license non-negotiable
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Horticulture, or a related field (preferred);
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commercial sales management, preferably within the potted plants or horticulture industry.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and leading sales teams to achieve high performance and revenue growth.
  • Strong ability to prepare and deliver high-impact sales presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining client relationships and closing high-value deals.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
