1982 the family-owned and operated company offers complete solutions for power production from solar
energy and covers the entire spectrum, from planning to the turnkey handover of photovoltaic installations.
IBC SOLAR has been operating in South Africa since 2017. The scope of our local business activities is being
an integrated solar systems and services provider, wholesale of PV components and operating through an
installer network system in Southern Africa.
To strengthen and enhance our position in the market we are looking for a Head of Sales Gauteng based in
the Company’s Centurion branch reporting to our Management in Cape Town.
Job Summary:
The Head of Sales will lead the Sales Team and activities for the Gauteng region, driving revenue growth,
expanding market presence, and managing key client relationships. This role will focus on meeting sales
targets within the solar wholesale and distribution industry, ensuring the company remains competitive and
aligns with evolving market demands.
Responsibilities:
- Technical selling, consultation and support of customers and in respect of the company’s PV products and systems in both – commercial and residential markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, including installers, contractors, and reselling partners.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, contracts, and service agreements, ensuring client satisfaction and loyalty.
- Acquisition and development of new customers in the Gauteng and surrounding provinces including Kwa Zulu Natal areas.
- Recruit, train, and manage the Gauteng sales team, setting clear performance goals and providing ongoing coaching.
- Foster a high-performance sales culture focused on results, accountability, and customer-centricity.Manage sales forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting, ensuring transparency and alignment withcompany targets.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate sales performance and inform strategic adjustments.
- Work closely with marketing, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment on regional sales goals and strategies.
- Provide feedback on product performance, customer requirements, and market demands to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure that all sales practices comply with industry regulations, ethical standards, and company policies.
- Implement and uphold sales best practices, including CRM usage, to optimize team efficiency and data accuracy.
- Organisation and commencement or regular technical product and system trainings with clients where new products are introduced or system configurations and commissioning are shown.
- Gaining internal knowledge about new products or updates and changes. Internal processing and presentation in the company’s knowledgebase and training of colleagues.
- Analyses and Assessment of market and customer requirements for new products and solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Economics is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in the solar field is a necessity
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the solar industry, preferably as technical sales.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Excellent Afrikaans and English skills
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, customer facing environment
- Ability to organize, prioritize and effectively multi-task daily and meet deadlines
- Assertive, confident and clear communicator – via e-mail, phone and face-to-face
- Highly proficient with desktop applications such as Adobe Acrobat Professional, MS Office, and Internet
- Explorer including an ability to learn new IT systems
- Frequent travel within the region
- Must have valid state driver’s license
