ROLE OVERVIEW

Edward Snell & Co. are seeking a highly motivated, customer-focused Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Gauteng

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all site safety related requirements. Support continuous improvement of safety in the department. Report unsafe conditions and accidents to the SHE representatives. Prioritize closure of Safety Tags.
  • Follow safe working procedures, including use of correct PPE. Participate in safety meetings and committees when requested. Compliance to LOTO.
  • Deliver a maintenance culture that is proactive versus a reactive maintenance system. Build predictive and proactive maintenance systems that deliver superior machine reliability, efficiencies, and quality products.
  • Check equipment availability in preparation for start up.
  • Perform stand by duties for Services and Utilities Department (Water, effluent, Generators, Boiler and Compressor)
  • To solve, report and analyses malfunctions and breakdowns under his responsibility, within the Mechanical and Electrical domain.
  • Resolve unplanned production stoppages effectively and as quick as possible within the Mechanical and Electrical domain.
  • Review and take action to immediately optimize machine performance during production.
  • Ensure that Supply Chain delivers stock according to the demand plan efficiently and consistently to release minimal out-of-stocks across all portfolios – Conformance to Packaging Schedule (PCTS), Out of Stock Edward Snell Portfolio and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality products – the key focus being Quality System certification/compliance.

 

QUALIFICATION & MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

  • N6 or National Diploma (Electrical and Mechanical) or relevant qualification. Mechanical Fitter/Fitter & Turner/Millwright Trade test qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the FMCG industry with experience in the maintenance of processing and packaging equipment.
  • Experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Filling, Labelling, Capping and packing machines from the following OEM’s – Krones, Pe Labellers, Robopac, Arol and CFT.

 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge in conveyor systems, pumps and gearboxes.
  • Knowledge of variable speed drives, automation, and control.
  • Control circuits (forward-reverse, star-delta).
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Fault-finding techniques and ability to interpret electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Knowledge of Continuous improvement methodologies – TPM and WCM.

  • ISO Quality Management & HACCP Knowledge
