OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To manage the certification engineering department, setting and monitoring compliance with certification, design and production standards

MINIMUM
Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical)
IDEAL
Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering

5. POSITION DESCRIPTION

Planning and Research
Determine the objectives for the department and outputs required.
Determine the deliverables of the department from the objectives.
Identify the appropriate resources (human/physical) for departmental functional performance.
Proactively research specific standards to be applied in the area of aircraft continued airworthiness in relations to maintenance organisations.
Advise the Senior Manager, Executive ASO and Director on all AMO related aspects
Operational Management
Secure and delegate appropriate resources.
Monitor and measure departmental performance.
Initiate corrective actions to ensure service delivery.
Compile reports on departmental performance.
Manage the department in accordance with policy, procedural and legal requirements.
Oversee the certification process pertaining to aeronautical products and parts design, ensuring ICAO and ISO standards are complied with.
Advise industry stakeholders around safety and airworthiness issues.
Management of Subordinates
Create and maintain a climate conducive to acceptable performance in attaining departmental deliverables against objectives.
Monitor individual performance against agreed standards. Initiate proactive and corrective action as required.
