Position Overview:

The Sampling Plant Operator for a 5TPH Dense Media Separation (DMS) Test Plant is responsible for managing the sampling process to ensure accurate and representative material collection and analysis. This role includes operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant equipment, with a focus on dense media separation processes. The operator must ensure high-quality sample preparation while adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Sampling Operations:
  • Operate and monitor the DMS plant to ensure accurate collection of samples at various stages of processing.
  • Collect and prepare representative samples of feed, product, and reject materials.
  • Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and handling of samples for testing and analysis.
  1. DMS Plant Operation:
  • Monitor plant performance, including feed rates, media density, and separation efficiency.
  • Adjust plant parameters as needed to maintain optimal performance.
  • Ensure that the plant operates at its rated capacity of 50TPH while achieving test objectives.
  1. Quality Control:
  • Conduct regular checks on material properties to ensure adherence to quality specifications.
  • Collaborate with the laboratory team for timely analysis of samples.
  • Identify and address deviations in material quality or plant performance.
  1. Equipment Maintenance:
  • Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of DMS equipment and sampling systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical or operational issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and maintenance activities.
  1. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
  • Follow strict safety protocols and ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and report safety hazards, conducting risk assessments as required.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to waste disposal and water use.
  1. Data Management and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed logs of sampling activities, plant parameters, and production data.
  • Prepare daily and shift reports summarizing plant performance and sampling outcomes.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors and project teams on test results and plant efficiency.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mineral processing, metallurgy, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Experience:
  • Prior experience in operating DMS plants or similar mineral processing equipment.
  • Experience in sampling, quality control, or laboratory analysis within the mining or processing industry.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of dense media separation principles and equipment operation.
  • Ability to monitor and adjust plant parameters for optimal performance.
  • Proficiency with sampling techniques and preparation methods.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

 

Work Environment:

 

  • Conditions:
  • Work is conducted in an industrial processing plant environment, often involving noise, dust, and exposure to moving machinery.
  • Rotating shifts, extended hours, or weekend work may be required during testing phases.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment or materials, climb stairs, and work in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable standing or walking for long periods.
