Key Responsibilities
• Answering all telephone calls and assist relevant regions with any and all queries that they might have, escalates where necessary and ensures prompt feedback is given.
• Appointing all SHE representatives within the allocated region in terms of the OHSACT.
• Manage and control all the SHE representatives and ensure that they are performing their functions as required.
• Assist all the SHE representatives with the facilitation of all inspections from Government officials and all OHSACT compliance requirements and requests.
• Arrange and attend quarterly regional SHE Committee meetings and keep records thereof.
• Perform unannounced site visits, risk assessments and SHEQ internal Audits within the region to ensure compliance.
• Ensure medical surveillance is conducted based on the risk assessment within the region.
• Performing Injury on Duty management for – Including but not limited to: Assisting SHE representatives with completion of relevant documents, having an up to IOD register, performing Incident investigations, sending out and checking of PEP Packs and requesting outstanding documentation required by COID.
• Loads all IOD documentation and reviews Compsol outstanding list received from SHEQ Coordinator to obtain outstanding documentation.
• Loading all IOD’s on Compsol for their relevant region.
• Sending of payslip request register to SHEQ Coordinator monthly in order for payslip requests.
• Controlling of Health Care Risk Waste and general waste streams – Including but not limited to: Ensuring correct handling and disposal processes, correct waste segregation, Inspections conducted in waste areas, sourcing recycling vendors within region.
• Manage the services and installation of all fire equipment within the region – including but not limited to: Doing inspections when site requests new installation and ensuring services are done when required.
• Ensuring a well-documented evacuation plan is in place for all allocated sites, that required amount of fire drills are conducted and documented proof is kept.
• Ensuring that all escape routes are kept clear of any obstruction when doing walkabouts.
• Conducting audits at service provider sites with the SHE Manager to ensure compliance
• Doing trends analysis on all audit findings
• Obtaining effluent permits from relative municipalities within region.
• Performs and/or facilitates regional training to ensure that employees and contractors are appropriately trained and skilled to undertake their roles in a safe and efficient manner – Including but not limited to:
– Induction
– SHE Representative
• Prepare and send monthly report to SHE Manager as well as all completed registers to provide feedback on monthly tasks completed.
• Assist with ISO9001 and OSHAS18001 implementation within the department.
• May be required to travel to other regional Lancet facilities as well as conferences to keep up to date on issues, trends and required regulatory compliance.
• Keeping up to date regional registers: (for drawing relevant statistics and record keeping purposes)

– Health and Safety Qualification
Required Experience
3-5 Years Relevant Experience
