Specifications:
The purpose of this role is to provide hardware and software systems support to end-users within the business. The role further requires the incumbent to have strong analytical and systems analysis skills with the ability to develop technical reports including and not limited to specification documents and data flow diagrams (DFD’s). The role further requires the successful incumbent to review current systems within the business from a function, design and human computer interaction (HCI) perspective working closely with department managers in mapping business processes and automating mundane and routine manual operations within the HOA. The successful candidate further needs to have a firm understanding of networks and general hardware trouble shooting and maintenance.
Duties and responsibilities:
– Analysis of current systems within the business for purposes of upgrading, automating and enhancing business processes within the HOA.
– Creation of system documentation for the purposes of documenting current the business system procedures further aiding the induction of new employees.
– Development of specification documents, DFD, UML notation.
– Working closely with each department within the business documenting system requirements.
– Mapping user requirements against current system performance.
– Install, configure, test and maintain system software, application software and system management tools for end-users within the business.
– Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
– Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with the business’s appointed service providers to implement fixes.
– Specifying server requirements, obtaining quotes, racking installing and maintaining servers when necessary.
– Reviewing the current data health status within existing systems and ensuring data contained within all systems at the business is accurate and consistent.
– Maintain system security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
– Ensuring the principles of POPI is adhered to from a systems perspective.
Desired Experience & Qualification:
– A bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science, software engineering or equivalent
– Proficiency with Microsoft based technologies including O365, MsDynamics, MsProjects.
– Knowledge of the SDLC and Agile Development methodologies and processes.
– Any of the following certifications would be advantageous – Programming Certifications, ITIL, A+, N+, Comptia (Systems Analysis) or other certifications in the programming and hardware environment.
– A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT Support, Systems Analysis & Coding environment.
Skills & Behavioural Competencies Required:
– Computer Literacy (Ms office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,)
– Competency in SQL, Javascript, PHP, C# or related programming languages
– Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team and possess a tech-enabled mindset.
– Ability to analyse, interpret and assimilate information.
– Good communication skills.
– Ability to work after-hours as and when required.
