Job Details

Project Management

  • Coordinate the scheduling, planning, and execution of painting and coating activities.
  • Ensure that all grit blasting and painting activities are completed within scope, on time, and within budget.
  • Review project specifications, drawing, and coating requirements to plan work effectively.

 

Surface Preparation & Application

  • Ensure the preparation of surfaces before painting, including cleaning, grit blasting, and other preparation techniques.
  • Ensure the application of primers, topcoats, and other protective coatings to structural steel, tanks, pipelines, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations during the preparation and application phases.

 

Quality Control & Inspections

  • Ensure regular inspections of painting work to ensure adherence to safety standards, quality benchmarks, and specifications are conducted, recorded and reported.
  • Ensure coating thickness, adhesion, and curing checks to ensure proper application are conducted, recorded and reported.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) teams to monitor the integrity of the coatings.

 

Team Coordination

  • Ensure all painting teams are trained and competent.
  • Ensure proper utilization of equipment and materials, minimizing waste.
  • Resolve any on-site issues related to the painting process or team dynamics.

 

Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, including handling hazardous materials such as solvents and paints.
  • Ensure all personnel are equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct safety audits and report any safety concerns or incidents to management

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain records of all painting and coating activities, including material usage, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
  • Report progress, challenges, and project milestones to management regularly.

 

 Coordination with Other Departments

  • Work closely with maintenance operations, and project departments to ensure that painting activities align with ongoing operations and scheduled requirements.
  • Provide input into shutdown and turnaround schedules to ensure painting is completed without disrupting operations.

 

Qualifications

  • Certifications in industrial coatings (e.g., NACE or SSPC) would be an advantage.
  • Proven experience in coating application in a petrochemical or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ISO, NACE, ASTM) and environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with different coating systems, including epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich coatings, etc.
