A diverse group of companies with interests in several activities including Telecommunications, Utility Management, and Property Management, has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Carer Supervisor who is has a passion for care to join their prestigious healthcare team at their facility within the Southern Suburbs. The successful candidate will ensure that the residents receive the highest standard of care and assist the Carer Supervisor in supporting and guiding the carer team in their day-to-day performance of their jobs. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, NOT LIMITED TO:  

  • Supervise and coordinate the carer team by ensuring they are within their allocated areas 
  • Ensure the care team is consistently following patient care plans and completing daily charting accurately 
  • Monitor that the carers are following policies, procedures and reporting non-compliance to the Carer Supervisor 
  • Ensure that the carers respond promptly to call/panic buttons, and oversee that the accurate procedure is followed  
  • Assist carers with care tasks, activities, and exercises when necessary 
  • Address staff queries and providing guidance and ensure resolution  
  • Monitor residents’ condition changes that may affect care plans and communicate concerns to the Shift Leader 
  • Identify and escalate where carer training intervention might be required to the Carer Supervisor  
  • Submit daily handover reports and ensure carer equipment is distributed to staff and neatly stored in designated areas at the end of each shift  
  • Promptly report and document incidents 
  • Ensure patient inventory e.g. nappies and toiletries is sufficiently stocked  
  • Perform weekly spot checks on resident rooms, equipment, and physical health 
  • Follow infection control procedures and conduct quality checks 
  • Ensure grooming photos, including hair, nails, and overall appearance, are taken and uploaded as required 
  • Ensure ongoing communication with the team to address any concerns regarding staff scheduled for the next day, and promptly escalate issues to the Carer Supervisor or Healthcare Administrator if necessary 

REQUIREMENTS  

Qualifications  

  • Grade 12  
  • Acknowledged carer qualification (advantageous) 

Experience  

  • Proven experience within a management/supervisory capacity  
  • Experience working as a carer would be an advantage 
  • Possess strong and accurate computer and administrative skills to manage documentation and records efficiently 
  • Understand key principles in caring for the elderly, including: 
    • Core carer competency skills 
    • Dementia care 
    • Palliative care 
    • Rehabilitative care 
    • Manual Handling knowledge & skills 
    • Fall prevention knowledge & skills
