Junior Systems Engineer

This company is fast becoming a leading mid to high-resolution earth observation camera supplier for CubeSats and small satellites. Our optical payload products aim to offer complete space imaging solutions for small satellites with plans to expand. Report To: Group Systems Engineering Manager

Job Purpose:

Develop, implement, and monitor the engineering process from User Requirements down to Component Technical Requirements for the company’s cameras, including hardware and software.

Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing, maintaining, implementing, and monitoring requirements throughout the development lifecycle of a product.
• Assist in setting up and maintaining the Verification Control Document exports for the various development projects.
• Assist the Systems Engineering team in developing, maintaining, and implementing various verification and validation procedures and policies.
• Assist in planning and managing the technical development process and monitoring technical performance.
• Lead technical reviews and ensure that the formal system engineering process is followed.
• Be the technical interface to customers for assigned projects.
• Coordinate and participate in system integration and test activities to achieve a system qualification.

Required Qualifications:

• B Engineering Degree or similar tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering

Required Experience:

• Must have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a system engineering role in a high-tech product development environment.
• Developing User Requirement Specification documents from stakeholders
• Developing System Requirements from user needs.
• Identifying verification methods to address the relevant requirements.
• Should have excellent communication, interpersonal, project management, and governance skills.
• Adept at system analysis, problem-solving, and conflict resolution since they work with various departments and shareholders who may have different goals for a project.
• Experience in teamwork applied in a technical project environment.

Recommendations:

• Knowledge of the development environment in the space industry as it pertains to developing systems and sub-systems will be beneficial.

• Development of system requirements from user needs.
• Ability to analyse changes and their effect on a qualified product baseline.
