Lead Designer

Qualification requirement: BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering or BTech or equivalent qualification

Roles & responsibilities that will be performed in Lead Designer position:

• Engineering design
• Make use of CREO design software for designs and drawings
• Review designs within engineering team
• Develop, structure and update drawing packs, BOMs and any other design or manufacturing documentation
• Draw up as-built drawings from site
• Oversee the manufacture of designed equipment
• Train and mentor young engineers
• Oversee and lead the operation of workshop CNC machines
• Put together design costing
• Will require travelling from time to time
• Full-time position working from the office in Atlantis, Western Cape

Required skills:

• Advanced mechanical design skills
• Experienced in using computer aided design software
• Experience with programming CNC workshop machines
• Practical and hands-on engineering abilities
• Good people skills
• Ability to teach/train team members
• Ability to work well in a technical team
• Must be well-structured and disciplined
• Good prioritisation skills
• Resilience
• Proficiency in the use of MS Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Professional written and spoken communication skills in English

Required experience:

• Minimum of 5 years engineering experience in mechanical design
• Familiarity with or experience in the bio-gas industry would be beneficial
