Purpose of the role

• Marketing Manager is Responsible for driving and implementing Brand Marketing strategies and plans in South Africa
• Manage the marketing team to effectively deliver various marketing and brand communications plans for new campaign and product launches at wholesale and retail sell-in and consumer launch that drive consideration and purchase of the business’s portfolio of Performance and Lifestyle Products aligned to the Global Game Plan
• Marketing spend is managed to budget
• Sales and DTC Retail are fully supported and on budget.
• Digital Marketing is fully optimised and commercial opportunities as well as partnerships are fully maximised.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Brand Management
• Responsible for maintaining the company’s brand identity and ensuring that all marketing activity align with the brands direction and values.
• Deliver long term & annual brand marketing plans, tactics & KPI’s for South Africa, utilizing agency resources within Scope of Work (SOW)
• Deliver annual brand marketing plans & spend prior to new season product launch
• Ensure collaboration with National Sales Manager & Retail DTC Manager with regards to input to plans.
• Manage and control agency regarding Key Account trade marketing activities against set agency KPI’s
• Manage key independent and co-op programmes in collaboration with sales to ensure co-op programmes are effectively executed and within budget.
• Marketing activity reports to Sales, Regional & Global Marketing on time.
• Ensure events deliver a successful commercial & brand promotion outcome and maximised return on spend.
• Ensure and oversee quarterly updates to company Website are executed and error free
• Strategic planning of initiatives, e.g. competitions, trade promotions in collaboration with sales and marketing agency.

2. Marketing Strategy & Execution
• Responsible for creating marketing strategies that contribute to the company achieving its goals through understanding the market, target consumer and competition to create effective campaigns that win with the target audiences
• Oversee the Sports Marketing Strategy aligned to Local/Global requirements
• Adapt/adopt the global marketing game plan to South Africa marketing game plan for KA sell-in and GTM Consumer launch
• Support end range sell-in review for future Product development with Sales
• Collaborate with the business DTC and the business sales teams to land and successfully execute brand and product campaigns with Key Trade Partners
• Support the business DTC content needs as required
• Deliver plans and execute to region marketing objectives in Digital, Running, Lifestyle, Game Plan compliance and 20% marketing risk/innovation.

3. Budget/Financial Management and Analysis
• Responsible for managing the marketing budget, ensuring campaigns are cost effective and provide a good return on investment
• Track the success of marketing campaigns, analysing data to determine what is working and what needs to be improved
• Deliver reports to regional marketing and country business management as requested.

4. Agency Management
Manage local agencies to successfully execute trade and consumer launches with:
• Digital & traditional media recommendations & buys
• Boosting social media (on global social media posts)
• Creating local social media posts (for geo-targeted paid posting where appropriate)
• Creating campaign materials for wholesale trading partners digital/social/in-store
• PR &/or activation support for major launches as appropriate/briefed
• Delver post campaign ROI reports
• Cricket Marketing as briefed

5. Sports Marketing
• Ensure performance of Sport Marketing assets and management level contact with respective sports agents against contracts in place both local and global.
• Oversee delivery of care packages to sports marketing assets against regional best practice.
• Ensure all associate assets are fully utilized and commercialized against strategic marketing plan

6. DTC Retail Marketing
• Full strategic planning and support on direction on all marketing activities, via advertising and promotions of DTC Retail

7. Staff Management
• Ensure compliance with the business core values and policies
• Weekly WIP meetings are scheduled and performance is managed proactively to create sustainable performance enhancement of marketing department.
• Deliver departmental role clarity and manage KPI reporting and appraisal process for Marketing Assistant

8. Other Responsibilities
• Contribute as a member of the Senior Management Team
• Provide input to the business Global & Regional Marketing plans
• Manage marketing travel & entertainment costs to budget
• Lead weekly WIP meetings with marketing agency
• Lead quarterly performance evaluation meeting with Country Manager and Marketing Agency.

Qualifications and experience:
• Tertiary education in Marketing, Brand Communications, or relevant disciplines
• Brand marketing and/or trade marketing experience in consumer products or related retail sectors within a Senior Management Role
• Experience in sports, retail or FMCG industry
• Exposure to sportswear fashion industry
• Project management and negotiation skills and experience
• Marketing Agency management.
• Proven Negotiation skills
• Solid Communication skills
• Sound team leadership skills
