Bounty Foods & Care’s Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing vendor relationships and purchase orders across designated categories, to ensure the availability of quality products at the best possible price while initiating and/or delivering on strategic cost savings, waste reduction and new product initiatives.
Based at Mega Park, Bellville South, you will be responsible for:
- Ensure the availability of products to deliver customer orders on time and in full, and within the targeted inventory policies
- Source from quality assured suppliers delivering the best quality products at the best possible price by leveraging our scale to procure only what is required.
- Reduce waste, rework and handling of products and minimise cost within the supply chain.
- Track, measure, analyse and report on key performance indicators for sales & operational planning and decision making.
Key Performance Areas:
- Review and maintain the master and transactional data, such as trade agreements, action costs, supplier details & trading terms, supplier & product defaults.
- Produce weekly purchase orders that ensures on time and in full delivery
- Manage the open purchase order schedules, updating all critical dates and information weekly. Manage inventory exceptions to avoid compromising customer service levels or stock excess.
- Analyse market trends for new products that could deliver revenue growth and/or cost savings. To work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers on the development and launch of new products.
- Source new suppliers; negotiate beneficial terms with existing suppliers; deliver cost savings, inventory reduction; beneficial payment terms and/or revenue growth.
- Utilise current systems in delivering strategies and identify system improvements.
Education & Experience Requirements
Minimum qualifications Diploma or degree in procurement, supply chain management, business administration or related field.
Minimum experience required:
- Minimum three years Buying/Procurement experience of raw materials and finished products ideally across food and packaging.
- Proven success in driving cost savings and revenue growth through negotiations, finding alternative sources of supply, initiating new product launches and waste reduction.
- Experienced in managing vendor relationships through regular performance reviews, contract management and finding resolutions.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in Excel, ERP and inventory management software (preferably Microsoft Dynamics, Sage & Netstock)
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
